FAQ

What is Parvo virus and should I be worried about it?

Parvo virus is a deadly disease that is much more common in Darwin and the rural areas than in the southern states. It is a virus that dogs will catch from the ground and causes life threatening bloody diarrhoea and vomiting.  Vaccination is protective against this disease and due to the high amount of Parvo that we have in Darwin we vaccinate our dogs every year.

Why is my dogs skin so itchy?

In Darwin, pets are much more likely to get skin allergies due to our tropical climate.  The problem is often very complex and related to air-borne allergens that the dog inhales such as pollens and grasses as well as skin surface bacteria and yeast.  Washing dogs weekly and applying a conditioner is critical to helping these itchy dogs but most need tablets or topical treatments to control the scratching.
